The stories here were presented under the title 'In Transit' as partial fulfilment of an M.A. in English (Emphasis: Creative Writing) at San Francisco State University back in 1983. The abstract for this work reads as follows:
We are all, essentially, in transit through life—a condition emphasized by mass communications and constant change in the modern world. What happens when we are confronted by unknown situations, circumstances beyond our control? Sometimes such situations may help us to grow psychically, other times they may threaten our basic perspective of the world. These stories explore the relationship between physical and psychical transition through the responses of various characters to fundamental changes in their personal world.
